Quick Reference Guide to Selling on Snapdeal
Snapdeal is an e-commerce marketplace that allows various people to register on it as sellers and sell products to consumers on it. On every item that is sold, Snapdeal charges a small commission. After deducting the commission and taxes the amount is transferred to the seller's bank account. Snapdeal allows you to sell across India from anywhere in the country. For those who wish to sell on it, here is a Quick Reference Guide to Selling on Snapdeal that will help you.
Register an Entity
To start selling on Snapdeal normally you need to register a legal entity like a private limited company, limited liability partnership (LLP), partnership or even sole proprietorship for that matter. Form an entity by following all legal rules and regulations. Obtain Certificate of Incorporation (COI) from concerned Authority.
Register a Trademark
Whenever you are selling on Snapdeal (infact this is true for Flipkart or any other online ecommerce portal) there is a certain chance that any other seller can keep a similar name as your product shop. Your trade name carries certain goodwill and this goodwill generates customer loyalty. Understand from a Buyers point of view, how difficult it would become to differentiate between you and the other seller. Snapdeal offers a solution in this respect, whenever you are selling branded products, you will need a trademark for your brand. This allows only genuine trademark owners to sell those products on Snapdeal. So keep your Trademark certificate handy when selling on Snapdeal.

Obtain PAN and TIN
Tax registration is important. An LLP or company has a separate legal entity and thus a PAN card is required. Apply for a PAN and TIN number. TIN is allotted by sales tax department and is mandatory.
Open a bank account
Open a current account in the name of the business entity at a bank.
Register yourself at Snapdeal
Go to Snapdeal's website and select the option of Register as Seller. Fill in the necessary details like name, address, e-mail address, city, name of organization, bank details, TIN number, PAN card of the entity and other important details. You'll also need to sign a Snapdeal Partnership Agreement. Once all the documents are submitted the company will verify your details and revert back to you. If the verification is successful Snapdeal will make your store live and customers will be able to see your products. You will be a registered seller on the website.
Set up shop
After the verification process is completed and store is live start adding products. You can add as many as you want. You can either start selling in one category like books, sports, clothing etc. or in multiple ones at a time. The quantity to be added and the price to be kept is at seller's discretion. Once a customer orders a product the seller is notified, post which he'll have to send the product.
